Mid September keg tappings another Oktoberfest tips

Hey folks — Bigfoot Dave here, lumberin’ down from the hills with news, smell of bratwurst, and a puff or two of fine cigar smoke. If you’re headed to Helen for Oktoberfest this week, here’s what’s cracklin’, including tips if you want to swing by Bigfoot for cigars and novelty tobacco. Pull up a stump, let’s get into it.

🎯 What’s Going On in Helen: Oktoberfest This Week

First off, Helen’s 55th Annual Oktoberfest is in full swing.  Some key details:

  • Dates: September 4 through November 2, 2025.

  • Through September 21, it’s Thursdays–Sundays; starting Sept 25, it’s nightly through November 2.

  • Hours vary: evenings during weekdays, earlier start on weekends.

This week (mid-September) you’re looking at some good weekend action, live music, food, beer, dancing — classic Oktoberfest vibes.

🔔 Keg Tapping

One of the highlights: keg tappings happen every Saturday during the early part of Oktoberfest.

Here are some upcoming keg tapping times/places:

  • Saturday, Sept 13:

    • 12:00 pm – Cowboys & Angels

    • 12:30 pm – Alpine Brew Deck

    • 1:00 pm – Chatt. St. Tap Room

    • 1:30 pm – King Ludwig Biergarten

    • 2:00 pm – The Heidelberg

So if you’re around this weekend, those are strong times to catch a fresh keg tap, drink some good beer, catch the mood.

🚬 Bigfoot Dave’s Notes: Cigar, Tobacco & Novelty Shops

Because no Oktoberfest outing is complete without a good cigar afterward (or maybe even during, if you find a smokin’ spot outside the Festhalle), here’s where you can get your blend on:

  • Bigfoot Tobacco & Novelty — Right up your alley. Located at 705 Brucken Strasse, Helen, GA. They carry premium cigars, vape gear, novelty tobacco items, you name it.

  • Helen Smoke Shop — Also in town, with cigars and roll-your-own supplies.

  • Chief’s Cigar — Another spot to explore.

If you swing by Bigfoot, ask them if they have any special Oktoberfest cigar deals or tastings — sometimes they run promos around local festivals. As of the last update, there’s a cigar sampler / Cigar Specials deal noted “over Labor Day weekend” on their site.

🐾 Bigfoot Dave’s Itinerary Suggestion

Here’s how I’d spend the day if I were you:

  1. Show up mid-morning, grab a German pastry or hearty breakfast downtown.

  2. Hit the Festhalle in the early afternoon — maybe around a keg tapping time to soak up the beer, music, crowd.

  3. After a few steins, mosey over to Bigfoot Tobacco & Novelty. Pick up a cigar, maybe something special or new, and find a spot with a view to enjoy it.

  4. As evening falls, enjoy the Festhalle performances, polka music, food. If the weather’s nice, sit outdoors.
